Become a Marafiki

Don’t Just Stand By. Stand Up!

TCP relies on the time and dedication of countless volunteers to make its projects successful. From volunteering on-site in Kenya to helping organize Canadian events, volunteers are at the heart of TCP’s engagements and projects. We always welcome more helping hands. Find out below how you can become a Marafiki (friend) of the Tumaini Children’s Project.

Join the Executive Committee

Becoming a member of TCP’s Executive Committee implies a wholehearted recognition of the power of children and youth to help themselves and help others.

The Mission: In its few years of operation, TCP has managed to accomplish a great deal. In just over two years we continue to impact the lives of youth in Canada and of more than 100 orphaned children in Kenya. Joining our team at an executive level would allow a unique opportunity to play a significant leadership role within our organization. The Executive Committee corresponds over e-mail for the majority of its work.

Who We Are Looking For: As an Executive Member, you are a dedicated, organized, and committed individual, someone who is energized by the responsibility associated with being an Executive Committee Member of a new and innovative organization. More importantly, you are someone who is looking to make a meaningful contribution, and who shares our vision and dedication to supporting AIDS-affected children and youth in Kenya while promoting the potential of youth in Canada. Though previous Executive Committee Membership experience is preferred, we welcome applications from anyone willing to aid in the strategic stewardship of this youth-focused initiative.

Volunteering in Kenya

The Mission: From time to time, TCP sends a group of volunteers overseas to our projects in Kenya for on-the-ground work. Volunteers from all across Canada are welcome to participate and if you don't have previous international work experience, that's all right by us!! Just come willing to be changed.

Who We Are Looking For: If you are interested in going overseas with TCP, you must first of all be dedicated to encouraging children and youth, both in Canada and in Kenya, to work together on social entrepreneurship projects in order to bring about positive social change. Secondly, you need to be willing to work with us prior to your departure. You must help fundraise for the project’s financing and for your own plane ticket and accommodations (we will also help you set up the logistics of your stay).
